DESCRIPTION
The Trace Advanced ED 8x42mm is designed not only around what you see, but around how you carry, access and use it in the field. We didn’t want to build our most advanced binocular and finish it with an ordinary neck strap. So we partnered with Peak Design. Compact Anchors remain attached to the binocular and connect to the Slide Lite, allowing the strap to be attached or removed in seconds.
At the heart of Trace Advanced ED is the ZeroTech EDX Optical System, our most advanced binocular optical system to date, featuring an APO design with dual ED glass in the objective and dual lanthanum glass in the eyepiece. Premium Japanese ED glass provides exceptional control over different wavelengths of light, helping maintain clean, natural colour.
The EDX Optical System achieves up to 94% light transmission, extending useful observation further into twilight and after sunset, while maintaining impressive definition towards the edges of its expansive field. The lightweight magnesium alloy chassis is nitrogen filled and waterproof, with twist-up eyecups, internal focusing and WeatherShield hydrophobic lens coatings that bead and shed moisture in rain and mist.
The Trace Advanced ED 8x42 includes the custom EVA field case, its semi-rigid construction providing a dedicated layer of protection against the knocks and impacts of travel and field use. A wider field. A clearer view. A better way to carry it.

Are the Trace Advanced ED binoculars good in low light?
Yes. The EDX Optical System delivers up to 94% light transmission, extending useful observation into twilight and after sunset. It is engineered to preserve contrast and resolution, helping separate subjects from deep shadow at first and last light.
Are 8x42 binoculars good for birdwatching?
Yes. The 8x42 delivers a 9.1° field of view for finding and following fast-moving birds, while its approximately 1.5 metre close focus lets you observe butterflies, insects and plumage detail, or a bird that unexpectedly lands nearby.
Is the Peak Design Slide Lite strap removable?
Yes. Compact Anchors remain attached to the binocular and connect through Peak Design’s quick-connect system, so the strap attaches or removes in seconds. Wear it around your neck or cross-body, and adjust the length quickly without removing the binocular.
Are these binoculars waterproof and fog resistant?
Yes. The Trace Advanced ED is IPX7 waterproof and nitrogen filled to resist internal fogging, housed in a lightweight magnesium alloy chassis built for travel and field use in changing weather. WeatherShield hydrophobic lens coatings cause moisture to bead and roll away from the lens surface, keeping the view clear in rain and mist.
What warranty comes with ZeroTech binoculars?
ZeroTech binoculars are backed by the unconditional Triple-A Lifetime Warranty: any owner, any problem, always covered. It provides lifetime replacement or repair regardless of fault and is fully transferable if you sell the binoculars.
